At the grand opening of Lynk & Co’s flagship showroom in Sharjah, The Brew News team sat down with Axel Dreyer, Chief Executive Officer of Galadari Motors, to discuss the brand’s UAE debut, its unique global DNA, and how it plans to redefine the car ownership experience.
Fusing Scandinavian design with Chinese innovation, Lynk & Co promises a new kind of mobility — one that blends premium engineering, digital intelligence, and lifestyle-driven community experiences. In this exclusive conversation, Dreyer shares how the brand fits into the UAE’s evolving automotive landscape.
The Brew News: Lynk & Co is described as a fusion of European design and Chinese innovation. How does the brand bring these two worlds together?
Axel Dreyer: That’s a great question. Lynk & Co is essentially a perfect blend of Swedish craftsmanship and Chinese engineering excellence. The brand is co-owned by Geely and Volvo, which means it benefits from Volvo’s world-class technology — we use the same powertrains and chassis — while leveraging Geely’s advanced manufacturing capabilities.
The design work happens in Sweden, giving every car a distinct European aesthetic, combined with the reliability and efficiency of Chinese production. When you sit inside or drive a Lynk & Co vehicle, you immediately feel that European sense of comfort, safety, and refinement — but at a much more accessible price point. That’s what makes it so special.
The Brew News: Galadari Motors has a long legacy in the UAE’s automotive sector. How does Lynk & Co fit into your existing portfolio of brands?
Axel Dreyer: We’ve structured Lynk & Co as a completely independent operation. It has its own sales and after-sales teams, but at the same time, it benefits from Galadari Motors’ 60 years of experience in the UAE.
We currently operate 16 facilities across the country, including a centralised parts warehouse that ensures fast delivery and service support. Our technicians are factory-trained by Lynk & Co, ensuring premium after-sales standards.
This combination of a new, dynamic brand and an established automotive infrastructure allows us to deliver a seamless, world-class experience to our customers.
The Brew News: Why did you choose to open the flagship showroom in Sharjah rather than Dubai?
Axel Dreyer: We’ve already opened a pop-up showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, but Sharjah is strategically very important. It’s home to nearly two million residents and serves as a growing automotive hub connecting the Northern Emirates, including Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah.
Our Sharjah showroom is located right on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, making it easily accessible to customers across the region. From a business standpoint, it makes perfect sense to establish our flagship here before expanding further.
The Brew News: Chinese automotive brands are rapidly growing in the UAE, especially in the mid and premium segments. Do you see this as a challenge to established global players?
Axel Dreyer: The UAE automotive market has grown consistently in recent years — double digits until recently, and now stabilising around 5–6% growth annually, which is still very healthy. This growth attracts many new players, especially as other regions like Europe are seeing declines.
Chinese brands already hold nearly 50% of the UAE market share, and they’re continuing to grow. Naturally, this means some traditional brands — particularly Japanese and Korean manufacturers — may lose a bit of ground.
But competition is healthy. It pushes everyone to innovate. For us, Lynk & Co’s unique positioning — premium design, smart technology, and a community-driven experience — gives us an edge. We’re not just selling cars; we’re selling a lifestyle.
The Brew News: You often mention that Lynk & Co is “not just selling cars, but experiences.” What does that mean in practice?
Axel Dreyer: Exactly — that’s the heart of Lynk & Co’s philosophy. When you walk into our showrooms, the car isn’t the only focus. It’s part of a broader customer journey and community experience.
For example, our upcoming flagship showroom in Dubai won’t just showcase cars — it will feature co-working spaces, a café, a lounge, and even meeting rooms. Customers can come to relax, work, or socialise — whether or not they own a Lynk & Co.
We want people to feel part of a connected community, not just a transaction. It’s a very European approach that focuses on emotion, design, and lifestyle — not just horsepower and specs.
The Brew News: What personally drew you to partner with Lynk & Co and bring it to the UAE?
Axel Dreyer: A few years ago, I attended the Shanghai Motor Show, where Lynk & Co had one of the most engaging stands I’d ever seen. It wasn’t just about the cars — it was about how the brand interacted with visitors, how it told stories, and created an experience.
That philosophy — making the car part of a larger lifestyle — really impressed me. I knew this was a brand that could resonate with UAE customers, who appreciate design, innovation, and community. With our experience and Lynk & Co’s vision, I believe we can take it to the next level here.
All Lynk & Co vehicles feature driver-focused interiors with digital cockpits and sleek Scandinavian aesthetics that blend tech, safety, and bold style.
The launch comes with two showroom activations:
- A Dubai pop-up showroom, open since October 1
- A full flagship showroom in Sharjah, launched on October 12
With its blend of luxury, digital innovation and standout design, Lynk & Co is positioning itself as the lifestyle automotive brand for UAE drivers seeking something different. Its message? Driving should be exciting, expressive — and above all, connected.
