Tashkeel launches Tanween 2025 at Dubai Design Week, showcasing nine UAE-based designers blending sustainability, innovation, and cultural heritage.

DUBAI: Tashkeel will present the Tanween Collection 2025 at Downtown Design during Dubai Design Week (5–9 November), showcasing the creative achievements of nine emerging UAE-based designers. The latest Tanween cohort reflects the UAE’s evolving design identity—blending contemporary aesthetics with sustainability, heritage, and material innovation.

Over the past 11 months, these designers collaborated with scientists and engineers to prototype works exploring themes like light, memory, tradition, and eco-consciousness. Standout pieces include Lamah by Hessa Alghandi, made from reclaimed palm wood; Oculus by Sarah Al Dulaimi, transforming chiffon offcuts into sculptural lighting; and Al-Nawa Collection 2025 by Nasser Al Ghawi, which uses date seeds and eco-resin in chandeliers and furniture.

Other works reinterpret traditional craftsmanship—Loodo, a sand-based coffee table by Clock & Cloud, and Bayn wa Bayn, a console evoking Gulf landscapes by Tasneem Al Nabhani. Jewellery-inspired cabinetry, pearl-diving homages, and furniture rooted in memory complete the lineup.

Post-showcase, designers receive funding and business support from Tashkeel to launch limited-edition lines. The open call for Tanween 2026 is now live, inviting UAE-based designers to apply for this year-long mentorship and product development programme.

Salim Ahmed, Design Projects Supervisor at Tashkeel, said, “Tanween is not just a programme; it’s a platform for designers to experiment, innovate, and define a sustainable design language rooted in the UAE.”

To date, Tanween has mentored over 60 designers, many of whom now shape the UAE’s creative economy.
