St. George’s University School of Medicine partners with GEMS Education to provide UAE and Qatar students easier access to medical education programs.

Dubai: St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine, Grenada, has signed a four-year partnership with GEMS Education, one of the world’s largest K-12 private education providers, to expand medical education opportunities for students in the UAE and Qatar.

The collaboration will simplify the admissions process for eligible students from 47 GEMS schools who successfully complete the International Baccalaureate, A-Levels, or CBSE curricula and excel in science subjects. Qualified applicants will gain streamlined entry into SGU’s five- or six-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) tracks.

In addition to admissions support, SGU will offer GEMS students tailored academic and career-focused activities, including webinars, clinical workshops, advisory sessions, and in-person events. These initiatives aim to give students deeper insights into medical careers and the experience of studying at SGU.

Students admitted through the partnership will receive benefits such as a partial scholarship, guaranteed interview, and exclusive access to the SGU Global Medic Club—an online platform with curated content for future medical professionals.

Aurelie Lily Phommarack, Associate Director of International Academic Affiliates at SGU, highlighted the agreement as a major step in empowering aspiring doctors. “Not only does this collaboration reaffirm SGU’s ongoing efforts to empower the next generation of medical professionals, but it also opens more opportunities, making medical school education more accessible to international students,” she said.

Christopher Goodbourn, Director of GEMS for Life, noted that the partnership strengthens GEMS’ university placement programs. “This represents another step forward for aspiring GEMS medical students to broaden their horizons and prepare for the next stage of their education journey,” he added.

With this collaboration, SGU and GEMS Education aim to support more students from the UAE and Qatar in pursuing careers in medicine through a clear, supportive, and accessible pathway.
