Urban Ledger has unveiled new UPI-style QR technologies in the UAE, offering instant, secure, staff-enabled payments with NFC and tap-to-pay.

DUBAI: Urban Ledger has reinforced its position as a leader in QR-based payments with the launch of a new suite of UPI-style QR technologies tailored for the UAE. The solutions are designed to empower small and mid-sized businesses by combining speed, security, and simplicity in digital collections.

A key highlight is the ability for business owners to enable staff to collect payments directly on their behalf. Each collection is instantly credited to the company’s account, while the transaction is attributed to the staff member, simplifying performance tracking, reporting, and incentives. Both owners and employees receive real-time notifications, eliminating the need for constant follow-ups and ensuring full visibility of collections.

Urban Ledger has also introduced a regional first with NFC QR integration compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Customers can now simply tap and pay without manual scanning or card entry, completing transactions in less than five seconds. Payments can also be made directly via a smartphone browser, removing barriers to adoption and ensuring a frictionless customer experience.

Speaking at the launch, Girish Advani, Co-Founder and CEO of Urban Ledger, said: “Our goal has always been to empower small businesses with payment solutions that drive growth without adding complexity. With this launch, we’re setting new benchmarks in speed, control, and visibility while introducing first-of-their-kind technologies to the UAE market.”

Co-Founder and COO Devanshu Verma added: “UPI-style QR codes are transforming global payments. Our enhanced QR innovation enables every sales or delivery staff member to collect and track payments instantly—friction-free and fully transparent. We’re delivering an experience as fast as India’s UPI, but customised for the UAE’s dynamic SME ecosystem.”

The new technologies are already seeing adoption across industries such as travel, maintenance, and logistics, helping companies streamline collections worth millions while enhancing customer experiences. Transactions are secured with mandatory OTP authentication and PCI DSS Level 1 compliance, ensuring maximum safety.

Looking ahead, Urban Ledger plans to roll out a “Buy Now, Pay Longer” instalment plan in Q4 2025, offering businesses a tool to grow average transaction sizes while providing customers with flexible payment options.
