ISLAMABAD: AD Ports Group has launched its first representative office in Islamabad, marking a strategic move to strengthen trade and logistics partnerships in South and Central Asia. This new presence underscores the Group’s continued international expansion and long-term vision to become a vital enabler of regional commerce.
Situated near Pakistan’s key federal ministries and regulatory bodies, the Islamabad office complements AD Ports Group’s network of over 140 global offices. It is expected to play a vital role in fostering government relations, supporting operations, and advancing infrastructure development in sectors including maritime, ports, logistics, and industrial services.
The inauguration saw high-level attendance from both UAE and Pakistani officials, including Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi. Their presence signalled strong bilateral relations and a joint commitment to economic growth.
AD Ports Group has already invested US$295 million in terminal upgrades at Karachi Port’s East Wharf. This is part of its broader effort to transform Pakistan into a major logistics hub along a trade route connecting China to Europe. Its operations in Karachi—under Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL)—have modernised port capabilities with new equipment, global best practices, and advanced systems, boosting cargo throughput and terminal efficiency.
Strategic agreements further strengthen this initiative. These include plans with the Pakistan Board of Investment for a dedicated industrial zone, a digital trade platform with Pakistan Single Window, and logistics collaborations with Bahria Foundation and Noatum Logistics. These partnerships aim to establish a seamless multimodal logistics corridor linking Pakistan to Central Asia.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of AD Ports Group, said, “Our Islamabad office reflects our deep commitment to Pakistan. It allows closer collaboration with government partners and supports our leadership’s vision for trade facilitation and economic development.”
With its strategic geographic position and growing logistics infrastructure, Pakistan is emerging as a key regional trade gateway. AD Ports Group’s Islamabad office will act as a critical hub for expanding operations, fostering regional connectivity, and driving foreign investment.
