China’s robotics industry is booming in 2025, with over 930,000 related enterprises and massive gains in AI, production, and industrial applications.
SHENZHEN: China’s robotics industry has recorded strong momentum since the start of 2025, driven by rapid technological advancements, expanded real-world applications, and increased industrial investment. A recent report by China Central Television (CCTV) reveals that over 50 robotics application scenarios are now in active development across the country, spanning fields from manufacturing to intelligent services.
Yao Qizhi, Dean at Tsinghua University’s School of Artificial Intelligence, stated that the improvements in robot stability and flexibility signal China’s growing strength in science and technology. From humanoid robotics to industrial-grade machines, every segment of the sector is witnessing an upgrade in innovation and implementation.
At the heart of this growth is Shenzhen’s new “Robot Valley”—a 10-kilometre innovation corridor that houses leading-edge robotics startups, sensor developers, AI training labs, and major machine manufacturers. The ecosystem allows real-time integration of technologies, with tactile sensor firms, 3D vision providers, and AI model developers collaborating seamlessly to drive embodied intelligence forward.
The industrial boom is reflected in the numbers. In the first half of 2025, production of industrial robots surged by 35.6%, while service robot output rose by 25.5% year-on-year. Additionally, more than 100,000 new robotics-related enterprises were established during this period—a 45% jump over H1 2024—bringing the national total to over 930,000 companies.
This explosive growth positions China as a global powerhouse in robotics innovation, with strong government support, integrated supply chains, and world-class research infrastructure paving the way for even more groundbreaking applications in the years ahead.
