DUBAI: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently announced an ambitious plan to develop the world’s largest Logistics Hub for Foodstuffs, Fruit, and Vegetable Trade. This initiative is not just about infrastructure; it’s about enhancing the lives of Dubai’s residents and making the city more appealing globally.

In his announcement, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of this hub in supporting Dubai’s economic growth, aiming to double the city’s economy and elevate its status among the top global economic centers by 2033. He emphasized that the project will create numerous commercial opportunities, benefiting both local businesses and international investors.

The Sheikh entrusted the management of this vast project to DP World, emphasizing their role in connecting Dubai with markets worldwide. He described Dubai as not just a city of business, but a vibrant hub that attracts major companies due to its strategic location and advanced facilities.

Under the leadership of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a significant partnership was formed between Dubai Municipality and DP World to establish and oversee the ‘Foodstuffs, Fruits and Vegetables Market’. This market, set to be the largest globally, aims to boost economic growth and support Dubai’s vision for the future.

Sheikh Maktoum expressed his confidence in Dubai’s ability to achieve its economic goals, highlighting the city’s flexibility and sustainability as key factors in attracting global investments. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO of DP World, echoed these sentiments, underscoring Dubai’s pivotal role in global trade, particularly in the food sector.

Director General Dawood Al Hajri of Dubai Municipality emphasized that this agreement reflects Dubai’s commitment to enhancing its competitiveness and quality of life for its residents. The initiative is part of Dubai’s broader vision to create a dynamic city that not only attracts business but also enriches the lives of its people through innovation and economic development.
