UAE highlights sustainable economic growth and inclusive development efforts supporting SDG8 at the UN High-Level Political Forum 2025 in New York.

New York: The UAE showcased its global SDG initiatives during the 2025 UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive economic growth and sustainable development, particularly under SDG8.

Themed “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions,” this year’s forum spotlighted collaborative efforts to fulfil the 2030 Agenda. Organised by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the event convened global leaders, including a dynamic UAE delegation.

A featured roundtable, “Beyond 2030: Reimagining Economic Growth for People and Planet”, brought together senior UAE officials like Abdulla Lootah and Mohammed AlHawi, highlighting the UAE’s model of sustainable, diversified growth. The session explored global investment mobilisation, private sector engagement, and solutions for international skill gaps and trade reform.

Two thematic panels further illustrated UAE’s leadership: “Economic Diplomacy in Action” addressed economic resilience aligned with SDG8, while “Vision into Action” aligned policy tools with SDG16 on peace and institutions.

Lootah underlined the UAE’s strategic vision: “We’ve built an inclusive economic model creating opportunities at home and abroad, driving sustainable change for future generations.” He also emphasised the importance of forming global consensus around new development goals beyond 2045 (XDGs).

AlHawi added, “The UAE is a land of opportunity. Through strategic investments, we empower talent, foster innovation, and build a resilient, future-ready economy.”

The UAE’s participation aligns with its broader strategy led by the Government Experience Exchange Programme, showcasing impactful, global partnerships.

As the UN’s central platform for monitoring SDG progress, this year’s HLPF reviewed SDGs 3, 5, 8, 14, and 17—highlighting the UAE’s continued commitment to shaping inclusive global development.
