DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has launched a campaign to remove abandoned vehicles from nine registration and testing centres across the Emirate, working closely with their partners. This effort aims to maintain cleanliness, sustainability, and Dubai’s unique appearance.

The targeted centres include Warsan, Al-Qusais, Shamil Muhaisnah, Wasel Nadd Al Hammar, Tamam, Al-Aweir Motor Show, Al-Barsha, Al Mumayaz, and Wasel Al-Jadaf.

During the campaign, officials issued 68 alerts, 38 posters, and 30 SMS messages to notify owners of abandoned vehicles. The response rate was impressive, with 95% of issues resolved promptly.

Dubai Municipality follows strict procedures, starting with warnings lasting from 3 to 15 days depending on the vehicle’s condition and location. Owners are notified via SMS if their vehicle is identified. If warnings are ignored, vehicles are towed to an impound yard in Al-Awir. Owners can reclaim their vehicles after completing necessary procedures, otherwise, vehicles may be sold by the Committee for the Disposal of Abandoned Vehicles.

This initiative ensures Dubai’s environment remains clean and orderly, maintaining the city’s aesthetic appeal and cultural integrity.
