SHARJAH: After nearly two decades, Safeer Mall in Sharjah has permanently closed, marking the end of an era for a once-popular shopping hub. The Al Safeer Group confirmed that the mall officially shut its doors two months ago.
Located on Al Khan Road, the mall was a favourite among long-time residents and expats. Now, its familiar blue signage has been removed, and the once-bustling three-story shopping centre, complete with two basement parking levels, stands empty.
First opening in 2005, Safeer Mall was developed by Al Safeer Group, playing a key role in Sharjah’s retail scene before the rise of modern mega-malls. It provided a convenient shopping experience for families, offering everything from groceries to fashion and home essentials.
Although the Sharjah branch has closed, Al Safeer Group continues to operate multiple hypermarkets and shopping centres across the UAE, including Safeer Mall in Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah and Century Mall in Dubai’s Hor Al Anz East.
