ABU DHABI: As per agency reports, talks are underway to locally manufacture Earth observation satellites, advancing the commitment of UAE to innovation and space technology development.

Ali Al Hashemi, CEO of Yahsat Satellite Services, said that Foresight-1 is a significant achievement, placing the UAE among the top 20 countries managing Earth observation satellites. Space42 plans to launch the Thuraya 4 satellite by the end of this year, followed by Al Yah 4 in 2027 and Al Yah 5 in 2028.

Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), part of Space42, is set to launch seven satellites as part of the UAE’s Earth Observation Space Programme. The first satellite, Foresight-1, was launched last August.

Al Hashemi also highlighted Space42’s leadership in AI-driven space technology, addressing global space industry needs and providing advanced intelligence solutions for governments and businesses. He added that the recent merger between Bayanat and Yahsat is a pioneering step, predicting more companies will adopt similar models by integrating satellite communications, geospatial analytics, and AI technology.
