ABU DHABI: A cutting-edge partnership between G42 and UAE Team Emirates-XRG has led to the debut of the world’s first cycling helmet powered by generative AI, unveiled in collaboration with renowned helmet manufacturer MET. This groundbreaking innovation was launched at the prestigious Tour de France, showcasing how advanced technology is merging with elite sports performance.
The AI-powered cycling helmet marks a major step forward in athletic technology, aiming to enhance both rider experience and team performance analytics. Andrew Jackson, Chief AI Officer at G42, emphasised that this collaboration demonstrates the expanding potential of generative AI—not just to boost performance, but also to redefine creative boundaries within the sport.
Faheem Ahamed, Chief Marketing Officer at G42, highlighted the helmet as a novel bridge between fans and the sport. He remarked that this innovation offers cycling enthusiasts deeper engagement with UAE Team Emirates-XRG, one of the top-performing teams in the global cycling arena. According to Ahamed, the creative application of AI is central to reimagining fan experiences and sporting dynamics.
Mauro Gianetti, CEO and Team Principal of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, confirmed that G42 is the team’s official AI partner. He noted that this partnership is already exploring revolutionary applications of AI, including tailored training insights, race-day strategies, performance metrics, and audience interaction enhancements.
