DUBAI: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Future Foundation, has introduced a first-of-its-kind global system that helps people know if something was made by a person, a machine, or both.

The new system, created by the Dubai Future Foundation, is called the Human–Machine Collaboration (HMC) system. It adds special symbols to research papers, articles, designs, and other content to show how much was done by a human and how much by a machine like AI or a robot.

There are five main symbols:

  • All Human: Made only by a person
  • Human led: Made by a person but improved by a machine
  • Machine assisted: Made by both person and machine together
  • Machine led: Mostly made by a machine, checked by a person
  • All Machine: Fully made by a machine

There are also nine smaller icons that tell which part the machine helped with—like writing, research, data, images, or ideas.

His Highness said, “With technology moving so fast, it’s hard to know what is made by humans and what is made by machines. This new system makes it clear and helps build trust.”

All Dubai Government departments have been asked to start using this system for their reports and content.

People around the world—writers, artists, researchers, and publishers—can also start using the icons in their work. The goal is to make content creation more honest and easier to understand.
