The UAE has reinforced its global leadership in digital transformation, topping multiple global indices in connectivity, smart cities, and AI readiness.


ABU DHABI: The UAE continues to secure its position at the forefront of global digital transformation, driven by visionary national strategies that place innovation and people-first policies at the heart of sustainable growth. The nation’s rapid progress is reflected in top global rankings and recognition across multiple technology sectors.

According to the United Nations E-Government Survey 2024, the UAE ranked first worldwide in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Index, achieving a perfect score of 100 percent, underscoring the strength and efficiency of its digital networks. The country also maintained its world-leading position for mobile internet speed, as reported by Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index, with an average download speed of 546.14 megabits per second in June 2025.

In 2024, UAE government entities completed 173.7 million digital transactions, serving more than 57 million beneficiaries across 1,419 digital services, with a satisfaction rate of 91 percent. The UAE’s cities also excelled globally, with Dubai ranked fourth and Abu Dhabi fifth in the IMD Smart City Index 2025, reflecting their advanced infrastructure and quality of life improvements.

The country topped the Government AI Readiness Index 2024 in the region, highlighting its progress in AI integration, data availability, and digital governance. Experts say the UAE’s transformation is setting new global benchmarks, with initiatives such as Dubai Government’s 360 Services policy delivering integrated, proactive, people-centred digital services.

Business leaders note that the UAE’s strategy now focuses not only on speed and connectivity but also on personalised, human-centred digital experiences that anticipate future needs. This vision supports the national goal of doubling the digital economy’s GDP contribution by 2030, with AI expected to add US$100 billion to the economy. The UAE’s model for digital transformation continues to inspire global adoption and innovation.
