ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2024 wins Bronze Award at global Leaders event in London for excellence in fan engagement and community initiatives.

ABU DHABI: The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2024 has earned global recognition with a Bronze Award in the “Fan Solution Category” at the prestigious Leaders sports leadership conference in London. The honour celebrates the marathon’s innovation in enhancing fan experience, driving community participation, and promoting sustainability in sport.

Now in its sixth edition, the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon has become a flagship sporting event for the UAE capital. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in partnership with ADNOC, the 2024 race attracted over 33,000 runners—from elite athletes to families and first-time participants—making it one of the largest and most inclusive marathons in the region.

The award-winning edition showcased a strong focus on inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability. Initiatives included reducing plastic waste, tracking carbon footprints, and launching educational outreach programmes in schools. Interactive digital campaigns and social media engagement further deepened community connection with the event.

Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, expressed pride in the achievement. “This global recognition highlights our commitment to delivering a world-class sporting experience that places community, performance, and sustainability at its heart,” he said.

The marathon’s success not only reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position on the global sports map but also underscores how sporting events can create lasting social and environmental impact. The award represents a key milestone in the journey of making the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon a benchmark for future-forward and inclusive mass participation events.
