Dubai: The Dubai Mounted Police Station has formed the nation’s inaugural “Tent Pegging” police team, dedicated to an officially recognized equestrian sport that highlights riders’ skills in managing horses adeptly.
Dubai Police’s team is a significant part of the UAE national tent pegging team and is endorsed by the Emirates Equestrian Federation.
Dr. Major General Muhammad Issa Al Adhab, Director of the Dubai Mounted Police Station and head of the tent pegging team, stressed the continual guidance from Dubai Police’s Commander-in-chief, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri. Al Marri emphasizes the importance of enhancing human resources through advanced training and sports participation to achieve Dubai Police’s strategic goals of community security and safety.
“This initiative aims to improve skills and performance, contributing to Dubai Police’s strategic goals of enhancing community security and safety,” Al Adhab stated.
He highlighted the station’s advanced capabilities in this area and its ongoing efforts to optimize human resources.
“Forming the tent pegging team is a means to uphold high craftsmanship and outstanding performance among our riders, boosting their confidence, motivation, and involvement in local and international championships, fostering a competitive spirit within the sport,” Al Adhab continued.
Captain Rashed Salem Al Shamsi, head of the Social Services Department at the Dubai Mounted Police Station and supervisor of the tent pegging team, noted that the station’s resources have facilitated the team’s establishment.
He explained, “This involved selecting and training a core group of riders and engaging specialized expertise, including the national team’s coach, to prepare them for this elegant sport.”
Following their training, the team has already achieved notable success, securing top positions in various national and international championships in both ring and sword games, bolstering the UAE’s standing in this globally renowned equestrian sport.
