Sharjah Self-Defence Club won the fifth round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, hosted in Dubai.

DUBAI: The fifth round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship concluded with Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club emerging as the top team, after a gripping day of no-gi competitions at Al Nasr Club. Held in a lively and competitive setting, the championship featured under-18, adult and master athletes from across the UAE.

The Khaled bin Mohamed Jiu-Jitsu event highlighted the sport’s rapid development in the country, with matches showcasing exceptional technical skills and fierce competition. Sharjah Self-Defence took first place in the team rankings, followed by M.O.D UAE in second, and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club in third.

The finals drew wide attendance and praise from officials and fans alike. Present at the closing ceremony were senior figures from the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Dubai Municipality, and other key organisations, reflecting the sport’s growing importance and the support it receives from national institutions.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, highlighted how the Khaled bin Mohamed Jiu-Jitsu Championship fosters community values while promoting mental and physical well-being through sport. He applauded the atmosphere and participation levels, calling the event a unifying platform for athletes and families.

Al Nasr Club Chairman Abdulrazzaq Al Hashemi echoed this sentiment, stating the competition reinforces discipline, confidence, and excellence among youth. He noted that the level of talent and skill displayed reflects the nation’s rising global reputation in jiu-jitsu.

Young champion Khaled Waleed Zawia from Al Jazira Club, who took gold in the under-18 66kg division, described the championship as a crucial stage for skill enhancement and competitive growth. “The matches were challenging, but I’m proud to win gold and earn valuable ranking points,” he said.

With its growing scale and turnout, the Khaled bin Mohamed Jiu-Jitsu tournament continues to underline the UAE’s leading role in the global martial arts scene.
