PARIS: Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, recently took part in an important event before the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He joined the Olympic torch relay, which started in Marseille on May 8 and will travel through over 400 cities and towns across France.
The relay includes many famous sports and cultural figures, such as the Prince and Princess of Monaco, Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, and actress Halle Berry.

Al-Khelaifi had the honor of carrying the Olympic flame in Vigneaux-sur-Seine, near Paris, where he covered a distance of 500 meters before passing the torch to 84-year-old Marie-Roland Pirrot, former head of the Epinay judo club.
Fans warmly welcomed him, and he shared his thoughts, saying, “Carrying the Olympic torch means a lot—it stands for unity, friendship, and peace. As a Qatari, Arab, and Muslim in Paris, this is a dream come true, not just for me but for all Arabs.”
Before becoming PSG’s president, Al-Khelaifi was a professional tennis player and now holds important roles in media and sports investments. He carried the torch close to Parc des Princes Stadium, where PSG plays, and where several Olympic football matches will take place. This includes the opening men’s match on August 7 between Uzbekistan and Spain, and the finals for both men and women on August 9 and 10.
