RAVENNA: The UAE national parachuting team showcased a stellar performance at the FAI World Style and Accuracy Landing Championship, earning six medals during the high-level competition held in Ravenna, Italy. The event concluded yesterday, drawing participation from elite skydivers and parachutists from across the world.
Star athlete Abdulbari Qubaisi led the charge by clinching four medals, including a prestigious gold in the “Accuracy” discipline. His remarkable performance also earned him three silver medals in the overall ranking, “Distance”, and “Freestyle” categories. Notably, Qubaisi achieved perfect scores in both the first and second rounds, finishing with 291 points, placing him second overall in the international rankings.
Adding to the medal tally, UAE national team skydiver Cornelia Mihai secured a silver medal in the “Speed” event and a bronze in “Freestyle”, demonstrating the squad’s overall depth and consistency. The results mark a major milestone for UAE skydiving on the world stage.
Mohammed Yousuf Abdul Rahman, Secretary General of the Emirates Aerosport Federation (EAF), commended the team’s exceptional results and extended appreciation to the Skydive Dubai team for their vital support during the preparation phase.
The UAE’s six-medal victory at the world skydiving championship highlights the country’s growing prowess in international aerial sports and reflects the continuous efforts to raise sporting standards in the UAE.
