Applause Adab Mushaira 2025 in Dubai brought together poets from across continents, celebrating Urdu poetry and promoting cultural unity.
DUBAI: A mesmerising night of verse and cultural pride unfolded as the Applause Adab Mushaira 2025 returned to Dubai for its fourth edition on Saturday, 11th October at the Al Zahiya Hall, Dubai Women’s Association. The event once again proved why it remains one of the UAE’s most anticipated literary and cultural gatherings, blending poetic brilliance with a spirit of harmony.
Presented by HBL and Sharaf Exchange, the Dubai Mushaira 2025 welcomed hundreds of literature lovers who came to celebrate the timeless beauty of Urdu poetry. With voices from the UAE, UK, Ireland, India and Pakistan — as well as emerging local talent — the night delivered a strong message of love, unity and shared heritage.
Among the distinguished guests was Emirati businessman and Guinness World Record holder Suhail Muhammad Al Zarooni, who graced the event as Chief Guest. Renowned literary figure A. Rehman attended as Special Guest, lending additional prestige to the evening.
Sharaf Exchange CEO Imad ul Malik, in his welcome speech, highlighted the company’s cultural CSR vision: to use literature as a bridge for community bonding. “The overwhelming response each year drives us to support Urdu and literature as tools for unity and happiness,” he noted. He also emphasised the importance of legal remittance channels to keep families connected and empowered.
The event was hosted by the graceful Tarannum Ahmed, and the prestigious “Mohsin-e-Urdu” Award was conferred upon Rehan Khan, founder of Bazm-e-Urdu Dubai, honouring his efforts in preserving and spreading Urdu literature across the UAE. Though now based in Canada, Khan’s commitment to the community remains unwavering.
The poetic evening was chaired by legendary poet Dr. Waseem Barelvi, whose moving verses stirred the crowd deeply. Nizamat duties were handled by the veteran Mansoor Usmani, who set the tone for an evening of brilliance.
An eclectic roster of poets — including Mansoor Usmani, Tahir Faraz, Shaukat Fehmi, Ahmed Salman, Aqeel Nomani, Jawwad Sheikh, Nadeem Shad, Saleem Siddiqui, Amir Ameer, Renu Nayyar, Shadab Ulfat, and Faiz Khalilabadi — captivated the audience with their emotional and thought-provoking performances.
From laughter to tears, the Dubai Mushaira 2025 was a soul-stirring reminder of the unifying magic of poetry. The audience unanimously hailed it as one of the best Mushairas ever hosted in the UAE.
