Abu Dhabi: The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has teamed up with the UAE Media Council and TikTok to launch a new campaign focused on “Family Online Safety”. This initiative aims to educate families about safe internet practices for children and everyone using digital platforms.

The campaign includes short videos designed to teach families about privacy, online gaming, cyberbullying, managing screen time, and using parental controls. Social media influencers are also involved, sharing their experiences and emphasizing the importance of staying safe online.

TDRA Director General Majed Sultan Al Mesmar highlighted the agency’s commitment to society by prioritizing initiatives like these. He stressed the importance of raising awareness in a society where internet use is widespread, aiming to prevent potential risks and empower people with knowledge to handle online challenges.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasized the campaign’s role in protecting children from inappropriate content. He noted the UAE Media Council’s efforts in developing regulations to ensure a safe digital environment aligned with the country’s values.

Jinan Al-Hashli from TikTok GCC praised the campaign’s focus on digital community safety. She highlighted TikTok’s commitment to providing tools and information to help families stay safe across all digital platforms.

The campaign aims to educate families on internet safety practices, including understanding platform policies and using privacy controls effectively. It stresses the importance of protecting personal information and utilizing tools like digital fingerprinting to prevent unauthorized access.

By partnering with the UAE Media Council and TikTok, TDRA aims to create a safer online environment for families nationwide, promoting responsible internet use and safeguarding personal data.
