Young drama actors from BRICS+ nations will join a Moscow fellowship to study Russian theatre techniques and Stanislavsky’s acting system.

MOSCOW: Young drama theatre actors from BRICS+ countries are set to participate in the upcoming InteRussia fellowship in theatre arts, running from 25 August to 3 October in Moscow. Organised by the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund in collaboration with the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) and TV BRICS International Media Network, the programme is supported by the Presidential Grants Fund.

The fellowship will host participants aged 21 to 35 from Argentina, Brazil, India, China, Cuba, Mauritania, Tunisia and South Africa. Over the six-week course, they will take part in acting, stage speech and movement classes, with a focus on Konstantin Stanislavsky’s renowned system. The training will also include visits to Moscow’s leading theatres, museums and exhibitions, offering a broad cultural immersion.

GITIS Rector Grigory Zaslavsky highlighted that the expanded format would allow for deeper engagement with Russian theatre traditions. The programme will culminate in a performance of selected excerpts from A. N. Ostrovsky’s play The Storm.

First launched in 2021, the InteRussia fellowship seeks to enhance cultural, scientific and social ties between Russia and international partners. This year’s edition is also supported by ANO Mezhdunarodniki and Rossotrudnichestvo, alongside a parallel InteRussia fellowship focused on the energy sector for Latin American and Caribbean specialists.
