AJMAN: ‘UAE leadership a firm believer in media’s active role in supporting UAE’s sustainable development’, affirmed Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and the UAE Media Council, as he led a meeting in Ajman to discuss the Council’s strategic projects and initiatives.

Sheikh Abdulla highlighted the importance of the media sector’s legislative and regulatory achievements. These aim to regulate and promote the sector’s growth, create a competitive media environment, and provide balanced, transparent content. This approach supports the UAE’s society and its journey towards a bright future, aligning with the country’s achievements in various sectors.

He emphasized the UAE leadership’s belief in the media’s crucial role in supporting the nation’s comprehensive and sustainable development. Media should highlight the UAE’s progress and future plans to the world, adapting to global challenges and maintaining growth.

The Chairman stressed the need for strategic partnerships with various media entities in the country. He praised the collaboration between the UAE Media Council and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC) for launching the ‘Media Apprenticeship’ programme, which aims to build a new generation of national media leaders.

The meeting also covered the regulatory framework for multilingual media content standards. These standards, based on Federal Decree-Law No. (55) of 2023, apply to all content published by institutions and individuals, whether traditional or digital. The goal is to preserve UAE’s values and protect society, especially youth, from harmful behaviours. The standards ensure that media content respects the UAE’s social and cultural traditions, promoting an aware and responsible generation.
