SHARJAH: In celebration of Arab Document Day on October 17, the Sharjah Documents House has launched the “Documents are a Trust” campaign. This initiative highlights the importance of various documents in preserving the histories of nations and communities. It aims to enhance understanding of the Archives’ role in safeguarding government documents by implementing a comprehensive management system for Sharjah’s government entities.

The campaign emphasizes the need to document and protect historical facts and events to ensure their accuracy and integrity. His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah stated, “A document is the cornerstone upon which future generations will rely to preserve their identity and refute any falsification or theft of their past and present.” This sentiment underscores the campaign’s mission.
Community members are encouraged to participate by submitting their documents or copies to help enrich the emirate’s archival resources. Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the House, expressed that the campaign stems from a deep belief in the vital role documents play in preserving Sharjah’s history. He pointed out that documents are not just records; they represent trust, which must be protected for future generations.

The campaign will take place at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah over two days, on October 14 and 15. It will feature exhibitions and workshops focused on document restoration and preservation. Additionally, a photographic exhibition titled “The First in Sharjah” will be held, showcasing the early stages of the emirate’s development. This campaign aims to engage the community in valuing and protecting their historical documents, ensuring their legacy endures for generations to come.
