Apple and fellow streaming platforms contemplate a fresh compensation scheme for the entertainment sector, linking pay to performance.
Under this plan, actors and production crews would garner bonuses based on factors such as the number of viewers, watch time, and cost relative to audience size.
Apple explores this model, engaging with talent representatives, which could see top shows potentially yielding up to $10.5 million in bonuses per season.
This strategy seeks to encourage higher-quality content and lower initial expenses, mirroring Netflix’s early growth strategy. Amazon and Netflix are also looking into similar methods.
This proposed change coincides with industry concerns about streaming payment, emphasized by last year’s Hollywood writers’ strike.
