DUBAI: India celebrated the Basant Panchami festival, which marks the arrival of spring, with a concert by folk singer, Malini Awasthi at Expo 2020’s Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre.
The two-hour-long musical event was characterised by melodious songs, with the tabla – twin hand drums – keeping the tempo, accompanied by a six-member ensemble.
A gold medalist in Hindustani classical music from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow, Awasthi regularly performs at Indian festivals at home and around the world.
