DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has successfully completed the development of the UAE’s longest mountain trails in Hatta, featuring 21 cycling routes spanning 53 kilometres and 17 walking trails covering 33 kilometres. The Hatta Mountain Trails project includes 9 wooden bridges, 14 rest stops, and various service facilities to enhance the visitor experience.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by Dubai Municipality to establish Hatta as a premier tourist destination. The trails are designed with four levels of difficulty, each colour-coded: Green for beginners, Blue for intermediate users, Red for advanced levels, and Black for experts. Each level includes specific tracks for both cycling and walking.
Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, stated that the project aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to improve the quality of life in Dubai and position it as the world’s most active and healthy city. The trails were developed with high health and safety standards to ensure a safe experience for all users.
The project was completed in two phases. The first phase, completed in just 10 months, involved expanding and maintaining existing hiking and biking trails and stabilising the soil in certain areas. Additionally, comprehensive maintenance was carried out on existing bridges, with damaged ones being replaced.

The second phase focused on constructing rest stops and service facilities, along with installing 176 signposts and 650 directional signs to guide cyclists and hikers. The trails pass through a variety of terrains, including rocky paths, rugged peaks, and valleys, offering breathtaking views and opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels to enjoy Hatta’s natural beauty.
