HOUSE OF WISDOM

Situated on Sharjah International Airport Road is a two-storeyed futuristic library called the House of Wisdom. This library was named UNESCO’s World Book Capital in 2019 and for good reason – it houses a collection of over 300,000 books and is perfect for book lovers. The library is divided into multiple sections each with a little something for everyone. A children’s library, cafe, reading areas indoors and outdoors, meeting pods, a theatre and so much more.

THE RAIN ROOM

Yet another spot that gives its visitors a technologically immersive experience. With 2,500 litres of recycled water, the room invites visitors to walk in through a downpour of rain without getting wet just for AED 25. This art installation belongs to the Sharjah Art Foundation, which is yet another marvel to explore in the emirate of Sharjah.

SHARJAH ART FOUNDATION

As its name reveals, the Sharjah Art Foundation is one of the most popular art attractions in the emirate. The foundation always exhibits local and global art and even offers a variety of art courses in both English and Arabic. It also organises film projections and art workshops which can be booked for either free or affordable prices.

SHARJAH MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC CIVILISATION

A great place to learn about Islamic history for it houses over 5000 artifacts. The museum is a three-storey building with seven galleries showcasing manuscripts, astrolables, ceramics and coins. The first floor reveals achievements of Arab scientists and astronomers whereas the upper floors exhibit Islamic textiles, jewellery and other kinds of art.

AL NOOR MOSQUE

Also known as the Sharjah Mosque, situated on the Buhaira Corniche. It is known for its stunning Ottoman-inspired architecture and being one of the first mosques in the UAE to be open to non-muslim visitors. The entry to the mosque is free and visitors are provided a one-hour tour guide who explains the design of the mosque and Emirati culture.
