RTA reports 395.3 million riders used Dubai public transport in H1 2025, with daily ridership reaching 2.18 million and a 9% year-on-year growth.
Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) revealed that its integrated transit network — including the Metro, Tram, buses, marine transport, taxis, and shared mobility — served 395.3 million riders during the first half of 2025. This marks a 9% increase from H1 2024’s 361.2 million, with daily ridership averaging 2.18 million.
RTA Director General His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), credited the growth to enhanced service efficiency and infrastructure. “Dubai public transport is now a cornerstone of mobility, serving residents and visitors alike,” he said. The share of trips made by public and shared transport grew from 6% in 2006 to 21.6% in 2024.
Major milestones include progress on the Dubai Metro Blue Line, which will serve one million residents across nine districts by 2040, and the acquisition of 637 Euro 6-standard buses, including 40 electric buses — the UAE’s largest electric fleet to date.
Metro usage topped 143.9 million riders, with BurJuman, Al Rigga, and Union stations recording the highest footfall. Public buses carried 95.7 million, while taxis transported 103.5 million riders. Marine transport served 9.7 million, and Dubai Tram carried 4.9 million riders. Shared mobility services moved 37.6 million users.
May saw the highest monthly ridership at 68.8 million.
Al Tayer emphasised ongoing integration of transport networks and smart mobility systems to raise the public and shared mobility share to 25% by 2030, supporting Dubai’s sustainable, inclusive urban growth.
