Dubai: In a previous part of the Mission: Impossible series, we witnessed Hollywood action icon Tom Cruise mount the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Well, now it’s Abu Dhabi’s turn to star in the series’ latest installment. The UAE’s capital city plays a significant role in the trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which was released on May 17.
Glimpses of the Liwa desert and the Midfield Terminal were also caught in the film’s trailer, which is touted as IMF agent Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) penultimate mission. The actor also appears to be riding a motorcycle off a cliff and crashing into a forested area.
It’s no secret that Cruise and his crew were in Abu Dhabi in 2021 to film a few key action sequences for the seventh chapter, directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Moreover, this is the second time Paramount Pictures franchise has shot in Abu Dhabi, since they shot a leap sequence for Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 2018.
“The Mission Impossible films are renowned for their thrilling set-pieces, intricate plots, and high-octane stunts, so we are delighted that Abu Dhabi is once again being showcased as a location where such intricate, groundbreaking movie-making can come to life,” said Hans Fraikin, Abu Dhabi Film Commissioner, in a statement.
