Dr. Moopen’s scholarship to support 25 students annually with full tuition waivers for MBBS, BSc Nursing, and BPharm courses in Kerala.

Kochi: In a landmark move to make healthcare education more accessible, Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder & Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, launched the Dr. Moopen’s Legacy Scholarship & Fellowships programme. This initiative provides 100% tuition fee waivers to 25 deserving students annually, supporting studies in MBBS, BSc Nursing, and BPharm at Dr. Moopen’s educational institutions in Wayanad, Kerala.

The first-of-its-kind initiative by a private medical college in Kerala, the scholarship aims to benefit 125 students over five years, with Dr. Moopen’s Education and Research Foundation (DMERF) committing INR 3 crore per year towards the programme.

Each year, 5 MBBS, 10 BSc Nursing, and 10 BPharm students will receive the scholarship. MBBS selection will be merit-based, focusing on top NEET scorers. BSc Nursing and BPharm scholarships will consider both academic merit and financial need. Scholarships are renewable, subject to academic performance and adherence to programme guidelines.

Dr. Moopen said, “This scholarship is about giving back. It’s about ensuring capable students don’t have to abandon their dreams of becoming doctors, nurses, or pharmacists due to financial hardship. Through this, we’re shaping the next generation of compassionate healthcare professionals.”

Applications open 28th July 2025 via www.dmscholarship.in.

The announcement, made in Kochi, was attended by trustees Alisha Moopen, Anoop Moopen, and executives including T.J Wilson and Dr. Shanavas Palliyal. The initiative reinforces Dr. Moopen’s commitment to uplifting underserved regions through education, building on the success of Dr. Moopen’s Medical College — already a hub for nurturing healthcare talent.
