Qatar has completely blocked Roblox, saying the game exposes kids to unsafe and harmful content.
DOHA: If you’re in Qatar and your kids can’t log into Roblox anymore, it’s not a glitch — it’s official. The country has slapped a full ban on the insanely popular online game, saying it’s packed with “moral and safety threats” for young players.
For now, Roblox still shows up in app stores, but the moment you try to open it, you’ll get a “No Network” error on mobile or “This site can’t be reached” on desktop. Translation: game over.
The move comes after reports of “virtual assaults” in the game and content that clashed with local cultural values. Experts warn that Roblox’s open social spaces — where players can chat, create, and join games — can affect children’s mental and social growth in ways parents might not expect.
Roblox hasn’t commented yet, but the company is already in hot water elsewhere. It recently banned a YouTuber who exposed creepy behaviour on the platform, sparking online protests and even catching the attention of a US congressman. Safe to say, Roblox is having a rough year.
