New Delhi: The Government of India has declared a one-day national mourning tomorrow, 21 May 2024, to honor H.E. Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and H.E. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who tragically died in a helicopter crash. The National Flag will be flown at half-mast across India on all buildings where it is regularly displayed, and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar have expressed their condolences at the passing of H.E. Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, and H.E. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. They acknowledged the significant roles both leaders have played in strengthening India-Iran relations.
