Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak joined over 60,000 people in Dubai to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day, honouring community contributions.
DUBAI: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended a vibrant gathering marking the 78th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai. The event, held on 10th August 2025, welcomed more than 60,000 attendees, including Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, senior officials, diplomats, and members of the Pakistani community.
Organised by the Emirates Loves Pakistan platform in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai and supported by Dubai Police, the celebration showcased the cultural richness and achievements of the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE. The programme featured traditional dances, musical performances, heritage cuisine, and artistic displays, reflecting the community’s contributions to the country’s social and cultural fabric.
In his address, Sheikh Nahyan congratulated the Pakistani people and highlighted the enduring bonds of friendship between the UAE and Pakistan, rooted in shared values and mutual respect. He praised the Pakistani community’s role in enriching UAE society and encouraged participation in a national writing competition themed “What the UAE Means to Me”.
The event also honoured notable Pakistani achievers across sectors such as law, education, hospitality, banking, sports, and journalism. Among them were Sana Mir, Pakistan’s celebrated female cricketer, and several long-serving business leaders and community pioneers.
Dr. Faisel Ikram, President of the Pakistan Association Dubai, announced the expansion of the AED 45 million Pakistan Medical Centre, aiming to triple its services with new facilities including advanced diagnostics, a dialysis unit, and expanded physiotherapy.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1971, the UAE and Pakistan have deepened cooperation in trade, culture, and development. In June 2025, both nations launched a strategic partnership to advance governmental modernisation, further cementing their strong bilateral ties.
