Dubai: Lootah Biofuels has launched its Smart UCO Collection App for Android and iOS, making it easier for individuals, businesses, and institutions to dispose of used cooking oil (UCO) responsibly. This initiative helps prevent environmental and public health risks by converting UCO into clean energy instead of allowing improper disposal.
This launch aligns with Lootah Biofuels’ mission to promote sustainability by expanding its UCO supplier network. Since 2010, the company has grown its supplier base, particularly in the hospitality and restaurant sectors, with the top 10 partners contributing over 300,000 litres of UCO monthly.
The bilingual app (Arabic and English) simplifies UCO disposal, enabling users to request home collection services. This prevents environmental harm, reduces sewage system burdens, and eliminates transport costs to distant collection points. An interactive map displays biodiesel fuel stations and collection centres.
To encourage participation, users receive financial incentives credited to a digital wallet within the app. A built-in calculator tracks oil contributions, enhancing awareness of environmental impact.

The app highlights biofuel’s economic benefits as a cost-effective alternative for commercial transport, reducing product costs. It also raises awareness about biofuels’ role in lowering emissions, combating climate change, and creating job opportunities in oil collection, recycling, and biodiesel distribution.
Lootah Biofuels aims to increase the UAE’s UCO recycling rate to over 80%, up from the current 50%. Its biodiesel offers the highest carbon reduction rate among available feedstocks, reinforcing its role in sustainable energy solutions.
