SHARJAH: Authorities in Sharjah have implemented a new traffic policy offering motorists substantial discounts on traffic fines, aimed at encouraging timely payments and reducing violations. As per the directive, offenders who settle their dues within 60 days of the violation date are eligible for a 35% discount, which covers the fine amount, vehicle impoundment period, storage charges, and any late penalties.
Motorists who pay their fines after 60 days but within one year from the date of the violation can still avail a 25% discount, though this only applies to the financial penalty, excluding additional charges such as impoundment or storage.
The decision, which seeks to promote road safety while offering flexibility to vehicle owners, clearly outlines that the discounts will not apply to serious traffic offences. This ensures that severe violations are dealt with firmly under existing regulations.
The move is part of Sharjah’s broader traffic management strategy, focusing on improved compliance, fairness in penalties, and smoother enforcement mechanisms. Residents and vehicle owners are encouraged to take advantage of the grace period to settle outstanding fines and avoid further legal or financial consequences.
