The event, organized by “SCTDA” from December 6 to 8, 2024, at “ Khalid Lagoon” in Sharjah, features the participation of 19 drivers representing 9 teams, competing for the top three positions.
Sharjah: Under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sharjah is hosting the Sharjah Championship Week, featuring the final round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship. From 6 to 8 December, Khalid Lagoon will welcome 19 drivers across 9 teams, vying for the 2024 championship titles.
Organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the event marks its 23rd edition. Teams like Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai’s Victory Team will compete in one of the world’s premier marine sports events. This championship is a testament to Sharjah’s dedication to hosting global sporting spectacles, as highlighted by Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA.
The race format includes thrilling practices, qualifiers, and the ultimate “Grand Prix of Sharjah,” offering participants a chance to boost their rankings with up to 20 points for first place. The championship circuit at Khalid Lagoon features a 2,057-metre track with five turns and straight stretches, challenging participants to navigate at lightning speeds.
The Sharjah Championship Week offers more than just racing excitement. Events include a carbon-reduction tree-planting initiative and press conferences. Past competitions have seen intense rivalries, including last year’s win by Swedish driver Jonas Andersson of Team Sweden.
The event underscores Sharjah’s commitment to sustainability, international sports, and cultural engagement, positioning the emirate as a leading destination for world-class events.
