UAE-based CARACAL, with ICOMM, has secured a contract to locally produce and supply 200 CSR 338 sniper rifles to India’s CRPF.

HYDERABAD: UAE-based small arms manufacturer CARACAL, in partnership with India’s ICOMM Tele Ltd, has won a contract to supply 200 CSR 338 sniper rifles to India’s Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), marking a major step in UAE-India defence collaboration.

The rifles will be manufactured at the newly launched ICOMM CARACAL Small Arms Complex in Hyderabad, opened earlier this year. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the advanced weaponry needs of the Indian Armed Forces, police units, and special forces, while also supporting global exports.

Hamad Alameri, CEO of CARACAL, said the deal reflects a deepening commitment to India’s defence sector and aligns with the country’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. “This historic transfer of technology in small arms is a significant milestone and directly reflects our long-standing efforts to support India’s growing defence industry,” Alameri stated.

Sumanth Paturu, Director of ICOMM Tele Ltd, said the contract validates ICOMM’s vision to bolster sovereign defence production. “Together with CARACAL and EDGE, we are transferring world-class sniper rifle technology to India and creating skilled manufacturing jobs,” he added.

The CSR 338 sniper rifle, chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum, features a 27-inch barrel, a 10-round magazine, ambidextrous controls, a two-stage adjustable trigger, and a telescopic foldable stock. The rifles are set for delivery by Q4 2025.

This deal not only boosts India’s internal security capabilities but also strengthens defence ties between the UAE and India while enhancing Hyderabad’s role in global arms manufacturing.
