Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called his India state visit “most productive,” marking a milestone in Philippines–India Strategic Partnership.
NEW DELHI: Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. hailed his current state visit to India as one of the most “productive and constructive” in his tenure. Speaking during a ceremonial meeting with Indian President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Marcos expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality received and emphasised the growing partnership between India and the Philippines.
“Like my father before me, I will always cherish this state visit as a living proof of our shared desire to draw closer to each other,” he remarked.
Marcos highlighted the strong outcomes from the high-level discussions, saying he was “much inspired” and eager to bring home key takeaways that would further propel bilateral initiatives. “I have to say that we did not expect to cover much ground because of the little time that we had to share,” he admitted. “I am happy to report that this was certainly not the case.”
He credited the success of the trip to the enduring friendship between the two nations and pointed to the many “possibilities and areas of potential” uncovered during their meetings.
Marcos is set to travel to Bengaluru, India’s innovation hub, to explore deeper cooperation in sectors such as digital infrastructure, startups, and advanced manufacturing. The visit, which also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, saw the formal launch of the Philippines–India Strategic Partnership.
Earlier engagements included a meeting with the Indian PM at Hyderabad House, where the two leaders witnessed the signing of over a dozen agreements spanning defense, maritime cooperation, space, cybersecurity, tourism, and digital technology.
