An X user shared shock after a 40-year-old colleague died of cardiac arrest, just 10 minutes after texting for leave.
MUMBAI: A sudden and tragic death has left social media users shaken after a man reportedly died of cardiac arrest only minutes after sending his manager a leave request.
KV Iyyer, who shared the account on X, said his junior colleague, identified as Shankar, texted him at 8:37 am requesting leave due to back pain. Iyyer approved the leave, thinking it was a routine request. However, just 10 minutes later, Shankar suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.
At 11 am, Iyyer received a call confirming the devastating news. Initially unable to believe it, he rushed to his colleague’s home, only to learn that Shankar had passed away.
Shankar, described as a healthy 40-year-old, did not smoke or drink and was known for leading a disciplined lifestyle. He was married and a father of one child. Iyyer wrote in his post: “He suffered a Cardiac Arrest. What’s shocking is he texted me for leave at 8:37 am & he breathed his last at 8:47 am.”
The incident has struck a chord with many online, with users expressing sorrow and highlighting the unpredictable nature of heart-related health conditions. Despite advances in healthcare, sudden cardiac arrests remain one of the leading causes of death worldwide, often occurring without prior symptoms.

Iyyer paid tribute to Shankar, saying he had been an integral part of his team for six years and was deeply valued both professionally and personally. He called the sudden loss “devastating,” reflecting on how life can change in a matter of moments.
