ABU DHABI: The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has unveiled a transformative plan featuring 13 residential projects across Abu Dhabi, aimed at delivering over 40,000 homes and residential plots to Emirati citizens. This large-scale initiative, valued at AED106 billion, reinforces the UAE’s commitment to enhancing living standards and fostering social stability among its citizens.
The landmark announcement, held at Qasr Al Shati, marks a collaborative agreement between the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority and the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC), alongside leading real estate developers. The agreement includes the construction of 25,244 homes over the next five years at an estimated cost of AED94 billion, and the development of 14,876 residential plots for AED12 billion.
Designed as integrated residential communities, these new developments will offer modern facilities, including commercial centres, schools, mosques, public parks, and sports areas. The communities are planned to meet global standards and reflect the UAE’s sustainability and family-focused urban planning goals. The UAE housing projects are a strategic move to create liveable, inclusive spaces for Emirati families.
His Highness stressed that the projects represent a national priority. He noted that ensuring comfort, security, and family wellbeing through such initiatives strengthens the social fabric and supports long-term national development. The President also emphasised the value of cooperation between government entities and the private sector to fulfil housing needs and meet citizens’ expectations.
The event was attended by senior members of the Al Nahyan family, top officials, and heads of key Abu Dhabi departments. Among the confirmed developers are Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, Modon Properties, Lead Development, and IMKAN Properties.
The plan includes six residential projects within Abu Dhabi city, five in Al Ain, and two in the Al Dhafra Region. Notable developments include the West Baniyas and Yas Canal housing projects. When completed, these projects will raise the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority’s total output to nearly 45,000 new homes and plots by 2029.
Citizens will be offered a choice in selecting their preferred residential zones via a map-based reservation system. According to officials, this initiative supports social cohesion and ensures family needs are prioritised in urban planning.
The UAE housing projects align with the ‘Year of Community’ initiative and are designed to uphold the country’s values of unity, inclusion, and high-quality living. They also mark a significant public-private sector partnership milestone in the country’s ongoing urban development strategy.
