India: UAE and India inaugurated a collaborative military undertaking named ‘DESERT CYCLONE’ in Mahajan, Rajasthan, commencing yesterday Januray 2 and set to conclude on January 15. The UAE’s participation in the exercise involves 45 personnel from the Zayed First Brigade, while the Indian Army’s representation consists of an equivalent number, primarily from a Battalion affiliated with the Mechanised Infantry Regiment.

The primary objective of this joint military drill is to bolster interoperability in sub-conventional operations, particularly in the challenging context of Fighting in Built-Up Areas (FIBUA) within desert and semi-desert terrains. Aligned with the principles of the United Nations Charter on Peacekeeping Operations, the exercise aims to refine the coordination and interoperability between the Indian and UAE forces, specifically in the domain of Peacekeeping Operations. Additionally, the drill seeks to cultivate collaborative partnerships and facilitate the exchange of best practices between the participating nations.
