ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has once again played a pivotal role in international diplomacy, successfully facilitating a new exchange of war captives between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine. This latest initiative involved the release of 84 Ukrainian and 84 Russian captives, bringing the total number of prisoners exchanged through UAE mediation efforts to 4,349.
This marks the sixteenth successful mediation effort by the UAE, highlighting the country’s consistent diplomatic engagement and neutral standing in global humanitarian affairs. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed gratitude to both Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation and trust in the Emirates’ mediation process.
The UAE mediation efforts are a reflection of the country’s strong diplomatic ties and its growing role as a peace broker in international conflicts. The MoFA noted that the continued success of these efforts underscores the confidence both nations have in the UAE’s commitment to de-escalation and humanitarian support.
Beyond facilitating exchanges, the UAE has also reaffirmed its dedication to alleviating the humanitarian consequences of the conflict. The ministry reiterated its goal of supporting all efforts aimed at achieving peace and reducing the suffering caused by the ongoing crisis, including those affecting refugees and captives.
As the conflict persists, the UAE’s involvement in these humanitarian gestures serves as a powerful testament to its diplomatic credibility and global outreach. By enabling dialogue and trust, the Emirates is contributing to regional stability and conflict resolution.
