ABU DHABI: Airbus is set to expand its footprint in the UAE aerospace sector by manufacturing key A400M aircraft components locally.
Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Gabriel Sémelas, President of Airbus in Africa and the Middle East, stated that this move would enhance the UAE’s role in the global aerospace supply chain, integrating local firms like EPI and Strata into Airbus operations.
In addition to manufacturing, Airbus plans to establish comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities for the A400M, a military transport aircraft. A dedicated training centre is also in the works, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a leading aviation hub in the region.
Sémelas highlighted Airbus’s commitment to workforce development, focusing on training programmes, technical assistance, and research collaborations. These initiatives aim to equip Emirati professionals with advanced skills, ensuring sustainable growth in the aerospace industry.
As part of its localisation strategy to manufactur the Airbus A400M in UAE, Airbus will drive job creation, technical training, and industrial partnerships, supporting the UAE’s vision for innovation and technological excellence in aviation.
