DUBAI: Ahead of welcoming its new Airbus A350s, Emirates has invested around US$48 million in cutting-edge equipment and systems to enhance pilot and cabin crew training. This move showcases the airline’s commitment to maintaining top-notch standards in crew training.

The new training suite includes three full flight simulators, a fixed base training device, a cabin emergency evacuation trainer, and a door trainer. Emirates has even designed its own Pilot Support System (PSS), making the training experience more interactive and immersive. The PSS allows trainees to set up a flight plan in a simulated environment and then pick up right where they left off inside the simulator. Instructors can also review crew performance by replaying sessions for debriefing.

Emirates’ first A350 full flight simulator received the highest qualification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), achieving this with zero issues. This cutting-edge technology helps pilots gain the skills and confidence needed for smooth operations. The second A350 simulator is set to receive EASA approval by November.

The training facility also features an A350 fixed base training device, which replicates the flight deck with realistic visual and audio systems to make training as close to real life as possible.

Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Flight Training, Capt. Bader Al Marzooqi, highlighted the airline’s commitment to innovation and expanding training capacity by 54%. He noted that with these new investments, Emirates’ pilots and cabin crew are well-prepared to handle any challenges.
