Dubai: His Majesty As the fourth iteration of the Arab Hope Makers program for 2023 begins, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has called on hope makers in the Arab world.

The Hope Makers project, the largest of its type in the Arab world, honors people and organizations that work to better the world via humanitarian and charitable endeavors. The program recognizes Hope Makers’ initiatives and campaigns that make a difference in the lives of those around them by devoting their resources, skills, and capacities to the greater good.

These initiatives and campaigns strive to enhance communities, increase quality of life, assist the afflicted, and generally make a positive influence in those around them.

On his Twitter account, Sheikh Mohammed wrote: “Hope is strength. It is the driver of change and the secret to new beginnings. Hope is to go on giving and to seize opportunities. It is an infinite source of good for humanity.”

He added: “We continue to seek hope makers to highlight their efforts and honour their deeds. When talk of conflict, desperation and negativity prevails across the region, we talk about hope, charity and positive change in our communities. There are thousands of hope makers in every city and village; all we need to do is shed a light on them.

“Today, Arab Hope Makers kicks off its 4th edition so we can celebrate them and acknowledge their achievements. We call upon you to send your nominations via arabhopemakers.com if you see yourself or someone you know as a Hope Maker.”

The Hope Makers initiative, run by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, is aimed at all Arab individuals and institutions who, voluntarily and without seeking financial or material gains, have an innovative and effective project, programme, campaign, or initiative that seeks to enhance a particular aspect of the community, lessen the suffering of those in need, overcome a local problem, or improve the quality of life for a certain segment of the community.

The Hope Makers initiative follows strict standards for the qualification and approval of nominations, including the requirement that nominated initiatives be unique and inventive, delivering a quality approach to the subject it tackles.

The initiatives that are nominated should also make a difference in the community that is being served, benefit a marginalized group of people, or lessen the suffering of those who are in need. The programs ought to be scalable, measurable, impactful, and sustainable. The Hope Makers program has received 244,000 nominations since it began in 2017.
