Dubai Municipality launches a 2.5-km sand equestrian trail in Hatta to boost tourism, preserve heritage, and support local businesses.
DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has unveiled the first sand equestrian track in Hatta, offering a scenic and secure horseback riding experience tailored for both professionals and amateurs. Spanning 2.54 kilometres in length and three metres in width, the new trail was developed to international standards, nestled within the emirate’s breathtaking mountainous terrain.
The launch is part of Hatta’s comprehensive development plan under the directives of the Supreme Committee to Oversee the Development of Hatta. It aligns with Dubai’s broader vision to enhance tourism, economic growth, and community wellbeing, while preserving the UAE’s equestrian heritage.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, stated: “The track combines sport and nature while reflecting the UAE’s enduring connection with horsemanship. Our aim is to position Hatta as a top destination for equestrian enthusiasts, while unlocking new economic opportunities for local residents.”
The trail not only enhances leisure offerings but is expected to drive local investment and SME growth across equestrian services, hospitality, retail, and tourism sectors. Visitors can explore the trail on their own horses or rented ones, enjoying panoramic views and a cultural immersion in Emirati riding traditions.
Set against Hatta’s rugged backdrop, the project adds to the area’s growing reputation as a dynamic, year-round destination. It also supports Dubai Municipality’s strategic efforts to make the city one of the world’s best places to live, work, and explore.
