The Museum of the Future launched its ‘Master Class’ series with Iraqi artist Dia Al-Azzawi, celebrating Arab cultural innovation and creativity.
DUBAI: The Museum of the Future, in partnership with the Great Arab Minds initiative, inaugurated its new Master Class series with a session led by celebrated Iraqi artist Dia Al-Azzawi, winner of the 2024 Great Arab Minds Award. The session drew artists, students, and academics from across the UAE and beyond, in a vibrant showcase of Arab creative excellence.
The first Master Class focused on the evolution of Arab visual arts, examining how artistic expression has preserved cultural identity and contributed to global art dialogues. Al-Azzawi, a pioneer in contemporary Arab art, shared insights into his five-decade career, reflecting on how historical events and Arabic calligraphy have shaped his creative journey and the broader Arab aesthetic.
He presented symbols, tools, and pivotal moments that influenced Arab art, reinforcing the artist’s role in documenting history and transmitting values to future generations. The session also featured interactive artworks and a retrospective of Al-Azzawi’s global exhibitions, giving attendees a comprehensive view of his contributions.
Held in an open-dialogue format, the event encouraged cultural exchange and celebrated diversity in artistic thought. Participants included university professors, Emirati artists, Arab creatives, and students, creating a dynamic environment for discussion and inspiration.
The Master Class series is part of the Museum’s mission as the official headquarters of the Great Arab Minds initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It aims to spotlight Arab thinkers and creatives, building bridges between disciplines and generations.
Future sessions will feature prominent Arab figures such as Algerian novelist Waciny Laredj and Jordanian architect Sahel Al-Hiyari, further enhancing the Museum’s role as a global centre for dialogue and knowledge exchange.
The Master Class programme will continue throughout 2025, offering regular full-day sessions limited in attendance to ensure deep engagement and quality discussions. Participants are encouraged to register early for a unique opportunity to learn directly from the Arab world’s most inspiring minds.
