H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed inaugurated the Quran Mosque in Aljada, one of Sharjah’s largest and most visually striking mosques.
SHARJAH: His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Arada, officially opened the Quran Mosque in Aljada on Thursday afternoon. This mosque is one of the largest in the emirate and a major architectural addition to the area.
The Quran Mosque in Aljada stands out with its elegant modern Islamic design and a striking column-free interior that offers a clear, uninterrupted space for worshippers. Spanning an area of 6,388 square metres, it accommodates up to 3,000 worshippers, with 1,600 in the main prayer area, 1,000 in the open courtyard, and 400 in the women’s section.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed performed the Dhuhr prayer at the mosque, marking the beginning of its spiritual role in the community. The mosque features a dramatic circular dome and a 39-metre-high minaret, blending clean architectural lines with traditional Arabic calligraphy on its exterior.
The Quran Mosque in Aljada also includes several thoughtful facilities such as private contemplation rooms, residences for the imam and muezzin, and areas for ablution. This reflects Sharjah’s ongoing vision to develop inclusive and culturally rich infrastructure for residents and visitors.
During the event, religious scholar Salem Al Doubi spoke about the significant role mosques play in Islamic communities. He stressed the mosque’s role as a space for reflection, connection, and good deeds, calling it a “house of God” that brings peace and spiritual comfort.
This mosque is the first in Aljada, and Arada has plans to develop two more to serve the growing population in the district. The inauguration of the Quran Mosque in Aljada reflects Sharjah’s commitment to building places of worship that support both Islamic values and urban growth.
The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Abdullah Khalifa Al Subousi, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Media Council; and Khalifa Al Shaibani, General Manager of Tilal Properties.
