Focus keyphrase Sharjah free home care: Elderly Emiratis with limited income in Sharjah will now receive free home care services, as ordered by the Ruler.

SHARJAH: In a compassionate move, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the Sharjah free home care service to be fully provided at no cost to elderly Emirati citizens with limited income. The directive ensures that beneficiaries will not have any deductions from their social assistance and will also receive refunds for any charges already applied this month.

The announcement was made by Maryam Majid Al Shamsi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Social Services Department, during a phone call on the popular “Direct Line” programme aired by Sharjah Radio and Television. The Ruler’s decision reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the wellbeing and dignity of Sharjah’s senior citizens, particularly those facing financial challenges.

The Sharjah free home care service is part of a broader social welfare strategy in the emirate that aims to provide elderly residents with access to in-home medical, social, and personal care support. By removing financial barriers, the initiative is expected to benefit hundreds of families across the emirate, allowing elderly citizens to continue living comfortably and independently within their communities.

The service includes regular health monitoring, home visits by caregivers, psychological support, and essential living assistance tailored to individual needs. Authorities have confirmed that the directive will be implemented immediately and any eligible resident previously charged for these services will receive a full refund.

The move aligns with Sharjah’s long-standing commitment to inclusive social development and supports the emirate’s broader vision of a dignified life for all its citizens, regardless of income level.
